The 60th anniversary of
the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom is August 28, 2023!
250,000 people came to Washington D.C. to
march from the Washington Monument
to the base of the Lincoln Memorial
Speeches were given by multiple leaders, including NAACP Executive Secretary Ron Wilkins, future Congressman John Lewis, and A. Philip Randolph, founder of Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters
The entire March was organized by activist and political advisor, Bayard Rustin. He even stepped in to give a speech in place of a woman who could not be there.
